Day 5 "My Hotel"
This is the hotel/resort we were staying at. I'll only go into the details of the outside of this hotel on this page because it would be too big of a load if I did the outside and inside. From the outside it looks like this. I think this hotel is built in a mountain. I mean when you drive up and go into the lobby it's the first floor and the top floor. All the living areas are down a couple levels. On the bottom level if memory serves me right is the public baths. More on that later. But look at that! This place I guess is the Japanese equivalent of maybe a cottage in the woods or a summer home for Americans. There's an ocean view, though I don't know if that was really the ocean or not and a spa/public baths, games, entertainment rooms, etc. They even have a meal provided. This meal was big enough to actually fill me up so you know this place is expensive.
But more about the outside. Since this is basically at the top of a hill/mountain there are stairs aplenty. After breakfast one morning we decided to explore a little bit. We started at the bottom, where the dining hall was and started climbing up. We took pictures at every turn because there was quite a number of spectacular scenes and sights. This was one of them. This is a photo of the waves coming in and splashing up against the foot of the hotel. On the right is a big cliff. The cliff continues on way high up into the mountain.
This is the top of that cliff. Believe me it continues to go up. I guess at this point we've climbed about 7 flights of stairs. We were probably about half way or 2/3 the way to the top. You can't tell but I'm starting to break a sweat. Oh who am I kidding. I broke a sweat just stepping outside. Though Japan wasn't nearly as hot as Maryland at the time I was here I spent a hell of a lot more time outside and walking so I was probably sweating constantly. Enough about that though. In this picture both of my parents are stepping on top of something while I'm just on the ground. They aren't really that tall. They would normally just sit comfortably atop my shoulders with no problem.

To read what I had written about these pictures before click here. I decided not to put these up because it was kind of a dark humor. Hey, I found it funny, but not everyone might so...
