Day 10

Today people start to go home. Some people left that morning while the rest of us left during the afternoon. This gave us some time to get some food and maybe a little more shopping. We meet up with some more of my dad’s childhood friends to go to a place to talk business. I really had no interest in going and looking back that time probably would have been better spent looking for gifts to bring back home. But off we went... to talk about flowers. Fucking yay.

The details on the who’s, what’s, where’s and why’s are very boring and I’ll spare you the details about that. But on the way to the place we were driving on unpaved road once again and it was bumpy as hell. This road I’m pretty sure is just unpaved as opposed to "was once paved but got driven into oblivion." I saw a lot of mud covered animals (at least I hope it was mud), and people shitting in the streets. There were so many people doing it that it had to have been just the time of day for that to be done. A sort of community morning shit routine. It’s the only reason why I can think of for that many people to be pooping in the streets.

After all that it was lunch time. I am lucky that I have started to finally gotten used to the smells of China because I would have been pissed if I missed out on a meal this good due to the fact that the places I’ve been before smelled atrocious. Dad’s old friends took us to a really nice (probably very exclusive) restaurant. One of his friends had with him a card that looked like it was stamped from gold. The writing on it was also in gold so I couldn’t really read what it said but damnit it’s literally a gold card. It even had a decorative trim. I wish I could have taken a picture of it but this place didn’t allow any photos to be taken. I still don’t know why that is.

The food here though is no joke. Easily the best food I’ve had in China and probably in the last couple of years. The beef ribs they gave us were the best pieces of beef I have ever had. I’ll say that again, the BEST PIECES OF BEEF I HAVE EVER HAD including $80 steaks and Japan’s famous kobe beef. This piece of meat could make Japan’s kobe beef it’s bitch. The entire meal was delicious to the point of sin and we ate like gluttons. We couldn’t help it; it was that kind of meal.

We went back to our hotels and got ready to go to the airport to fly back to the states. Dad took my laptop to show his friends some of our old vacation photos and we all chatted while we waited for it to be time to go. It was sad to leave, mostly because I knew there was a 30 hour travel period before I even got close to home. But I really like dad’s friends and I hope I’ll get to see them again soon.

I really thought this was going to be the end of my vacation. All that was left was a plane ride and then it was home. Sure it was a really long plane ride but honestly would I really have anything interesting left to say at this point? Apparently my life decided that I was not done writing about my trip yet and while I was at the airport I realized that I had forgotten my chinky hat at the hotel... I’ll give you a moment to remove or at least cover your children’s eyes before the wave of obscenities comes forth.
